Overview

GLDA (glutamic acid diacetic acid, typically supplied as the tetrasodium salt, GLDA-4Na) is a readily biodegradable aminopolycarboxylate chelating agent derived from biobased glutamic acid. It binds calcium, magnesium, and other metal ions to improve formulation stability, cleaning performance, and micronutrient availability, while offering a lower environmental impact than conventional EDTA.

GLDA is valued where eco-label, phosphate-free, and NTA-free claims matter. It performs across a broad pH window (approximately 3–14), making it suitable for acidic to strongly alkaline systems. In agriculture it is used to keep micronutrients soluble — including specialized cobalt and molybdenum liquid programs — and in home and industrial cleaning it supports hard-water control without persistent chelants.

No dedicated GLDA technical data sheet was attached with this brief. Product positioning below follows Reliant’s chelating-agent comparison and GLDA application guidance; request a sample or TDS for lot-specific assays.
